The Cameron Community Action Agency provides services to those residents
at or below the poverty level in Cameron Parish. These residents number
approximately 2500-3000. Services provided parish wide include:
1. Energy Assistance: Financial assistance paid to the utility company
in an effort to reduce the families’ burden of high energy costs.
2. Emergency Energy Assistance: Financial assistance paid to the utility
company in an effort to assist the person who may have a disconnect notice
or cannot obtain utilities.
3. Needy Family Commodities: Staple food items given to qualified families.
4. Clothing Bank: A program designed to provide individuals and families with
necessary clothing articles in time of need.
5. Emergency Food: A program designed to provide individuals and families
with necessary food items in time of need.
6. Medical Bill Assistance: A limited program that assists persons with medical
bill payments or the purchase of life sustaining drugs.
7. Transportation: Transportation services are coordinated with the Council on Aging and provided through the Public Transit Systems
8. Adult Education/GED Program: A program designed to assist persons with
obtaining their diploma.
